Graduate Academic Certificate in
Computational Linguistics

The deadline for Spring admission is October 15th. The deadline for Fall admission is June 15th.

The CompLing Graduate Academic Certificate is a four-course (12 hour) program in Computational Linguistics. Computational Linguistics is the foundation on which a large number of modern technologies is built. This is true for AI language models and language data analysis techniques. Developing such technologies is a complex process that requires knowledge from both Linguistics and Computer Science. The graduate certificate program in Computational Linguistics offers a comprehensive introduction to the foundational techniques in computational language analysis and natural language processing which enables students to do computational language data analysis and natural language processing in a variety of different settings.

Required Courses (these courses need to be taken in sequence):

LING 5040 - Principles of Linguistics
LING 5410 - Foundations of Computational Linguistics
LING 5412 - Advanced Models of Language (or CSCE 5290 Natural Language Processing if approved by an advisor)
LING 5415 - Special Topics in Computational Linguistics

 

Ready to Apply?

If you are not a current UNT student, you will need to apply to the Toulouse Graduate School. More information can be found here. If you are a current UNT student, you will need to fill out a concurrent application to pursue the GAC at the same time as your degree.

Academic Certificate Completion Form and Request to Receive Your Certificate
Once you complete your course work, please submit the Request for Graduate Academic Certificate of Completion form to receive your certificate.
