Scholarships

After reviewing the Eagle Scholarship Portal, and if applicable the Department Application is submitted, you are automatically matched to scholarships for which you meet the criteria. No other action is needed for these scholarships.

Teaching Assistantships

Assistantships are available on a limited basis in most graduate programs. These positions provide funds for many master's and doctoral students. Each department or program has its own requirements and expectations for their assistants and fellows. Most require 20 hours of work per week and many assistantship positions include health insurance eligibility.

Financial Support

Beginning full-time graduate students who meet all qualifications may apply for financial assistance from the UNT office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. In addition, beginning and continuing students may apply for financial assistance from the Department of Linguistics. This assistance can be in the form of teaching assistantships, graduate assistantships, or research assistantships. The positions are competitive and awarded through an application process. Departmental financial aid for continuing students who have not already been offered aid is awarded on the basis of their academic performance, their proficiencies and the departmental needs.
