Research Interests

Katie Crowder is a Principal Lecturer in linguistics and ESL. She holds a master's degree from UNT in Linguistics with a specialization in TESOL. Katie's professional background and interests include teaching introductory linguistics, acquisition of ESL, ESL teacher training, designing/directing language and cultural immersion programs, designing ESL Curriculum with a focus on high-frequency idioms, analyzing the globalization of English, and documenting the influence of media and technology on language change. During her career at UNT, Katie has created innovative undergraduate courses, Forensic Linguistics and The Language of Now: Pop Culture, Technology, and Society. Katie is also a member of and mentor for the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Islamabad cohort. 
Katie is the Undergraduate advisor for UNT Linguistics.
